It's been awhile since I've contemplated my favorite author, and the other day, as I was reading a fascinating book, from a fascinating authoress, I made my choice. Though a very hard decision, my favorite author is E.D.E.N Southworth
I have read three of her books which we received in the mail through Lamplighter publishing, and have devoured them all. I'm currently reading one of her books for a second time, by the title: Ishmael, or, In the Depths
Her books are beautiful, moral, and absolutely enthralling! I did a post awhile back on The Hidden Hand which is one that I truly appreciate.
Ishmael is about a godly young man who was brought up in the lowliest state possible. Many times in the book it mentions that he is a "self made man," but yet it never fails to give the credit to God for this boy's amazing life. His mother died in infancy, his father left him during his whole youth, (for reasons you will find out when you read it!) And he was brought up by his only other living relative, his Aunt Hannah. By God's Blessings and his own good character, he rose in the world and acquired an education, which to boys in his circumstances was rather unbelievable. He persevered, and worked diligently for what he wanted most: To become a working gentlemen, and to clear his mother's name.
More than that I can't tell you, for I don't want to ruin it for you! :D
But I do hope you will read it, and enjoy it!
And whilst on the subject of favorite authors, who is your favorite?
Christ's Blessings,
Miss Lizzy
