Persuasion

This past week I have been watching/reading Persuasion~ By Jane Austen and admiring the character Anne. She is self denial in itself, and has such a servants heart. We should all strive to be like Anne, giving up to others even when it doesn't agree with us. For in so doing we are being like Christ, He gave up everything for us, even His life. Shouldn't we strive to at least give to others as He gave to us?

One point in particular I was wondering about. Anne was told to refuse a man whom she loved passionately, because she was persuaded that he was not good enough for her. I was thinking of analogies, and pondering: What if you were Anne, and Captain Wentworth was Christ, would you be persuaded to let go of your faith in Jesus? The devil is always trying to find ways to make us let go of Christ, but will we heed him? Or will we stand firm with the one true God?  We should never be persuaded to evil or wrongdoing, we must trust and pray to God to relieve us from the Devils grasp.

At the end of the tale, Captain Wentworth gives Anne another chance, offers to her, and is accepted!  She was so amazed that he hadn't already married again, even though 8 years had passed. This is like Christ, no matter what happens, he is ready and waiting for us to come back to Him, and receive our second chance!

God's Blessings,

E. Marie
