A few months ago we purchased 16 Broiler chickens... (meat birds for those who don't know...) with our other order of laying hens. Some of these broilers died after the flood, and so we were left with 11.
So to get these delicious meat birds off to a great start, our farmhand made a really neat chicken tractor, that was the prior home of the birds before their newest home--The freezer. (More details on chicken butchering later... **grins**
So here it is: Our gorgeous, red-wheeled CT with chicken wire sides, a tin roof, and 2 wooden handles.
We moved the chickens daily, or sometimes more, so that they had as much grass and bugs as they could eat! Yum??
All in all it was a fun experience! And now that these little beauties are packaged in the freezer, we are in hopes of getting more broiler chicks soon! :-)
Christ's Blessings,
Miss Lizzy
